User :   Hi,
I am writing in complete despair and desperately hope someone can help me. I am 32 years old and I have been extremely ill for the last week. My symptoms are severe shortness of breath to the point where I can't take one step, internal shakiness, dizziness, left eye slightly closes sometimes, hair loss, heart palpitations, extreme thirst, and weight loss. I have been bed-ridden for the last week. I have already been to the ER 3 times, and have gone to 2 doctors and have gotten no answers. My blood pressure is 125/88 and my heart rate at the hospital was up to 115. My chest X-ray came back fine but I am having an ultrasound done tonight. My vitamin D level is 6 which is very low which I'm sure is contributing to some if not all of my symptoms. I have read that Vitamin D this low is a huge health risk. My doctor doesn't seem to think it is but I disagree. So he prescribed 400 IU twice a day which is an extremely low dose for this level of deficiency. I need to get my levels up quickly. Do you know much is safe for me to take and what the problem could be? I am only 4'8 and 99 lbs. I have two kids and am scared to death.
Doctor :   hello
Doctor :   i am DrXXX here
User :   Hi
Doctor :   give me a min let me read your query
User :   Sure
Doctor :   i can understand your concern
Doctor :   so all your symptoms started from last week ?
User :   Well I've had the shortness of breath a little bit a few weeks ago and back in April it happened but not this bad and without any of the other symptoms. The doctor said it is reflux but I don't have any other symptoms of reflux, not to mention I have all of these other things going on.
Doctor :   were any blood tests done ?
User :   Yes, everything came back fine except potassium was low and now is up and my CO2 was 19 which is only a little low.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   well as far as your dose for vitamin d is concerned well its the right dose . if you take more it can have side effects
Doctor :   did you get your sugar level tested ?
Doctor :   it takes time for the levels to come up and sudden increase is not good
User :   I bought a supplement that was 5000 IU and took one last night before I talked to the doctor. My mom had a vitamin D deficiency and they gave her 50,000 IU per week. Yes, my sugar is fine.
User :   So any ideas about what it could be?
Doctor :   as an online consultation its is difficult for me to pinpoint your condition without a physical examination . ultrasound is a good diagnostic procedure that can help us to understand more
User :   The problem is that I can't breath long enough to get there. I can barely stand and when I go to the ER, they don't do anything for me.
Doctor :   i see
Doctor :   but it is important that you go
User :   Yes, I understand.
Doctor :   ultrasound can help in detecting more
