User :   I had an awful cold/flu 2 weeks ago and still have lots of stuff in my lungs making it hard to breathe. I get winded and have a small cough but nothing is expelling. Never a fever but I feel as though I am getting worse? I also have a very runny nose. My baby is 4 months old and seems to have the same symptoms. I will take him to the DR tomorrow but need to see if I should go. He has insurance, I do not.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Helo
Doctor :   May I know your age?
User :   33, healthy 5'9" 135 lbs and super active.
Doctor :   Do you have history of wheezing problem?
User :   No, I have had bronchitus (sp) and strep in the past but not wheezing. I also get excersise induced asmtha but not for sometime now
User :   Never had a cold this long
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you bring out sputum when you cough?
User :   not really. I have to try pretty hard to get anything out
User :   Side note, I have extra heart beats. The kind that kick in when my body is tired...well they have been really bad these last few weeks. NOt sure if that or the breathing is worse.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   I am sure its just related to the chest congestion. Just mentioning it
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you have history of allergies?
User :   I live in Arizona so I only get allergies via a runny nose. Never like this.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you have history of diabetes?
User :   Nope. Nothing else besides the above. I am pretty boring. Mother of 3, healthy and rarely at the Dr. Anemic is the only other thing I am.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
User :   I am just trying to determine if this the prolonged chest congestion is something to be worried about
Doctor :   SInce you do not report of sputum production, your symptoms is probably an allergic cough.
Doctor :   Presence of sputum- thick, yellow coloured foul smelling one with fever is a concerning one.
User :   I dont realy have a cough though. It's only when I lie down. It's the chest full of fluid. Is that allergy related?
User :   I am almost out of time. Anything else?
Doctor :   If you find breathing discomfort increased on lying down.
Doctor :   It is a sign of cardiac failure.
Doctor :   You need to see a doctor as soon as possible.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   Your advice yes? Or seeing a doctor yet, no?
Doctor :   You need to see a doctor as soon as possible.
User :   Okay. I dont have insurance and so I guess I was waiting until I really needed to go.
User :   So we are done then?
Doctor :   You will need nebulisation, fluid control and medications to help draining the fluid from the lungs, which unfortunately can be done only at an hospital.
Doctor :   Hence my suggestion to you is to see a doctor.
User :   Okay , thank you.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Bye for nowl'
Doctor :   *bye for now.
