Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hello doctor
Doctor :   Ok, sure . Please proceed with your query
User :   i have a few questions to ask about my undecended testicle
Doctor :   Ok,
Doctor :   Ok,
User :   i was born with one testicle, i have had a surgery performed to look for the other one in my inguinal canal when i was an infant, the surgeon could not find the other testicle
User :   recently about 4 months ago, i have had an ultrasound to look for the testicle in my abdomen
User :   the other testicle could not be found
User :   will this cause any infertility?
Doctor :   One normally functioning testis is enough for the fertility to be optimal,
Doctor :   Ok, Have you ever got your semen aknalysis
User :   i have also had low-normal testosterone levels for my age. around 350 ng
User :   is my one testicle causing this? or is it a pituitary problem?
User :   i have not had a semen analysis done
Doctor :   Ok, The low testosterone can be attributed to absence of the one amongst the testicles and rarely a pitutary problem
User :   my remaining testicle is slightly larger than i should be according to my endocronologist
Doctor :   Thats right there will be some amount of compensation hypertrophy in other testis when one is missing
Doctor :   A semen analysis is one which can determine your fertility levels
Doctor :   Do go for the same
User :   will this be a permanent problem? can i increase the natural production of testosterone of my one testicle?
Doctor :   Well there are exogenous testosterones available, you can go for them
User :   i am on testosterone injections, i am scared that my remaining testicle will go into atrophy
Doctor :   No , that rarely happens with the injections
Doctor :   need not worry
User :   is atrophy possible from testosterone injections?
User :   okay thank you doctor
Doctor :   That could be a side effect of the testosterone which will fade over time
User :   i also have a dull ache in my testicle
User :   it comes and goes
User :   when i sit down for a long period of time
User :   it has been happening for a year now
Doctor :   If its a long term pain , A dopplar study to rule out vascular insufficiency is a must
User :   i have had it before i started testosterone injections however
Doctor :   Also it could be due to increased activity in the only testis
User :   my veins in my scrotum seem to be enlarged
Doctor :   Vascular insufficiency is a condition where the blood supply to the testis is at stake hence giving pain
User :   what is vascular insufficiency dr raju?
User :   oh ok doctor
User :   to stop this dull pain, what shall i do?
Doctor :   I would say first to rule out the cause by getting Doppler scan
Doctor :   Is there anything i can help you with ?
User :   ok
User :   i am worried about my fertility levels however doctor, as you can see, i am indian and fertility is highly regarded in the marriage market
User :   i would like to know more about the fertility rates of having only one testicle, while the other one is nonexistant
Doctor :   well the fertility is a little low when compared to ppl with two testicles , say about 70%
User :   i have read a lot about cryptorchidism, but my other testicle is nonexistant. my current testicle doesn't seem to be responding to the loss of one
User :   oh ok
Doctor :   Is there anything i can help you with ?
Doctor :   Yes, for sure
User :   will spermatogenesis be possible in my remaining testicle?
User :   and one last question doctor
User :   is all of this related to my hypothroydism? my hypo is controlled by medication however.
Doctor :   No , i do not consider by anyway as the hypothyroidism is the cause here unless you were diagnosed to have congenital ( born with ) hypothyroidism
User :   i was diagnosed very early, around 12 years of age
User :   my mother has it also
Doctor :   No , that doesn't support that the absence of the testis is for the same
User :   thank you doctor, my quiery is complete
Doctor :   You are welcome
Doctor :   Namaste
Doctor :   And take care
User :   ok thank you doctor
User :   namaste
