User :   I am 7 weeks pregnant with my third child and this morning when I went to the bathroom, I noticed a little bit of bright red blood in some of my stool. The stool was only about the size of a dime, but did contain some mucus and I had already had a BM earlier in the day. Should I call my doctor?
User :   hello
User :   I have had not other bleeding or spotting, only very mild cramping.
User :   hello
User :   hello
User :   i am Dr here
User :   Can you see my question above?
User :   yes
User :   one moment please
User :   i am going thru your query
User :   ok
User :   may i know your age please ?
User :   Also, no constipation or diarrhea so far... I am 34.
User :   are you constipated ?
User :   oh ok
User :   and this is the first time this happened ?
User :   any pain during defecation ?
User :   are you there
User :   ?
User :   Yes, I have never noticed it before. No pain at all during defecation. I have been treated for a peptic ulcer that causes pain that seems to heal and reoccurs in my upper abdomen on left side on and near ribs, have been taking 300 mg of Zantac per day for 3 months...
User :   ok
User :   ok since it was bright red in color
User :   that means its fresh blood
User :   now if we go by the MOST probable cause for this it can a rupture of a small polyp
User :   its nothing dangerous
User :   now here what should be your next step
User :   if it does not happen then all if fine.. you dont have any symptoms and you are in good health so dont worry
User :   but if it happens again that means there could be more and that would require you to see your physician
User :   Could a peptic ulcer that is bleeding cause this?
User :   for that it will cause mostly a upper GI bleed and also it wont be BRIGHT red
User :   and it will repeat
User :   like coughing up old blood?
User :   so thats why i said if it happens again you need to see a physician
User :   how would i now of it was a bleeding ulcer?
User :   are you coughing blood ?
User :   did you had a case of a bleeding ulcer before ?
User :   I don't think the Zantac is working and no not coughing up blood at all... and never had a bleeding ulcer before, only acid reflux... what symptom would I notice for upper GI bleeding?
User :   i will suggest you to please take PRILOSEC 20 mg instead
User :   its mush better
User :   much **
User :   I can take that while pregnant?
User :   Once a day or twice?
User :   once a day
User :   yes you can its safe in prgnancy
User :   okay, thanks! I will watch for any blood in stools and I go for an ultrasound next week
User :   your welcome
User :   take care
User :   I just had an oncologist do a very detailed blood test and everything came back normal...
User :   so I'm sure it couldn't be cancer related
User :   thats good
User :   thanks!
User :   your welcome
User :   bye bye
