User :   I had a TKR in November, I am still on two crutches and could straighten my leg previously but over the last month, things have gone down hill and I cannot straighten my leg nor get past a 90 degree angle. I have episodes where I cannot put my let to the floor without excrutiating pain at the base and to the inner aspect of the knee cap, other times, I walk with a bent leg. I am also wearing a patella stabilising brace. My joint feels "full" all the time. I feel the joint itself is OK but am now thinking I have capsulitis. What do you think,
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Do you have fever ?
User :   no but there is always heat over the entire knee
Doctor :   is there a swelling over the joint ?
User :   Not over the last couple of weeks
Doctor :   ok, do you feel more pain on climbing stirs or while getting down the stairs ?
User :   I can't do stairs
Doctor :   ok i it cannot be capsulitis , as the knee joint is a hinge type of joint , its the Menisceal tear what i am suspecting
User :   How would this occur?
Doctor :   When was the TKR done ?
User :   November 12th 2010
Doctor :   it is due top the inflammation caused by the prosthetics
Doctor :   to*
Doctor :   Have you consulted the surgeon who operated ?
User :   He suggested it was all due to the patella having weak muscle pull from the inside, hence why I have the stabilising brace which did help to some extent. I have another appointment next week.
Doctor :   ok, ask him to consider the common complication in the TKR called Arthrofibrosis where the bending will be restricted and cannot bend over 90 deg
User :   Thanks, does this also affect the lack of straightening?
Doctor :   yes,
Doctor :   and its due to excess scar tissue
User :   That's great thankyou for your advice, I have something to talk to him about now.
Doctor :   Shall i give you a link which provides details about the complications and care to be taken after TKR ?
User :   Yes thanks
User :   Great
Doctor :   it will be a good guide to you
User :   That should be all for now, thanks
Doctor :   you are welcome
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me , kindly provide your feedback
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   Take care
User :   Will do, how do I provide feedback?
Doctor :   you will be shown a window after closing the chat
