User :   hi i want to know if years of excessive dieting can lead to a decrease in metablism and whether or not this is irreverable??

User :   I find that when i stop dieting i put on weight to a healthy weight but then i cannot stop putting on weight and weight keeps going on

User :   i do but surely 6 years of dieting and starvation periods must slow your metbolism down so much that it cannot go up again

User :   the problem is that when i reach a normal body weight which is good for my height i still keep putting on weight

User :   well probaly about one pound every 2 days

User :   my maximum weight was 8st 7 but when i got to that and carried on eating normal diet i still put on weight

User :   Yes i am cautious about my weight but that is only because I put on weight all the time so eaily so i feel i cannot eat properly even thought i want to be able to

User :   before i started dieting i could eat whatver i wanted and never ever put on weight so i dont think it is genetic. Both my parents are very slim and eat very well

User :   I mean are soem people naturally slim

User :   yes that is exactly what i am saying, its not normal but still it is happening that is why i think maybe i have a very very slow metabloism

User :   I eat about 1300 calories a day and gym 3 days a week

Doctor :   it should be atleast 5 or 6 days a week
User :   because i am very underweight at the moment so cannot go to the gym untill i get to a better weight

User :   3 days ago i weight 43 kg now i weigh 45 kg, in the last 3 days i ahve only eaten 3 very small meals a day ???

User :   i only had breakfast this morning and was then weighed much later in the day and had not had any other food
