User :   How long should you wait after taking antibiotics to get the most conclusive results when testing blood for anaplastic large cell lymphoma?
Doctor :   hello
User :   hello
Doctor :   may i know your age and gender please ?
User :   I'm 54 yrs old, female, presented to surgeon with implants swelling and capsular contraction. Removed capsule and noticed lesions on the tissue. Did not test but told me to get blood test.
User :   Did not test tissue, I should say.
Doctor :   do you have any other medical problem ?
User :   No
Doctor :   and your symptoms ?
User :   Had breast implants for 22 years, noticed swelling, capsular contraction and some pain. Went to a plastic surgeon who removed and replace implants. Doctor said the scar tissue of the capsule looked like it had been rubbed with sand paper but did not send tissue to pathology. Said I should get my blood tested. There is a conditions (very rare) called anaplastic large cell lymphoma and it resembles my results. So that is why I want to get THE MOST accurate blood test. Since I'm on an antibiotic I want to know how long to wait before taking the blood tests.
Doctor :   well ok
Doctor :   now antibiotics in NO WAY will affect IF it is anaplastic large cell lymphoma
User :   so, the antibiotics won't affect the T-cells or white blood counts?
Doctor :   i mean there in NO co relation . as we use markers to diagnose
Doctor :   and those markers will not interfere in antibiotic therapy
User :   Okay, that helps answer my question. My primary care doctor said to wait for about 4 days.
Doctor :   the test for ALL is highly specific
Doctor :   and we study the markers on the surface
Doctor :   and antibiotics will not change anything
User :   Thank you for your help.
Doctor :   we usually want the antibiotics course to be over completely before any further test
Doctor :   thats routine
Doctor :   your most welcome
Doctor :   take care
User :   I will thank you.
