User :   dear doctor my son is 21 his platelet count is 0000 i just did a routine check when he returned for his short break from hostel
Doctor :   may i know where does he reside ?
Doctor :   Does he have any other symptoms ?
User :   yyy he is studying there

Doctor :   any kind of symptoms, like fever, rash, fatigue, weakness, joint pain, etc ?
User :   no symptoms he went to donate his blood to the tata cancer hsopital as we all donate once a year he came to knoe there the doctors advised him a check
Doctor :   any specific reason for doing the tests ? as well what were the other test results , were they normal?
Doctor :   but i would not worry, if there are no symptoms
Doctor :   a count of 0000 is less, for his age
Doctor :   it could be a error of the test
Doctor :   as well, since its above, 0000, there is no need to worry
User :   yes all test were normal got his cbc done hematocrit was 52 H cholestrol 219 and trigyl 185
Doctor :   But, KEEP a check , if he develops the symptoms i mentioned above, and repeat the test again after 1 day, to know the platelet count
User :   my local physician has given him a 5 day course on cefixme tab 200
Doctor :   if its normal, or above 1 lakh , nothing to worry
Doctor :   there is no need for that
Doctor :   to take antibiotics, withiout any signs of infection
User :   he told may be bcos of viral fever which has not been cleared
Doctor :   also, viral infections, more commonly causing low platelet count , are not affected by the antibiotic used
Doctor :   i would recommend stoping the antibiotic
User :   my cousin is a thoriac surgeon in england he told me to consult a heamtologist\

Doctor :   you can consult, a specialist, definitely
User :   any type of food wwhich can increase platelet
Doctor :   but, he would also recommend observation and supportive management , currently
Doctor :   there is nothing such
Doctor :   But Folic acid supplements will help
User :   will it increase on its own

User :   thanks any other advice as he may leave for his hostel soon any dietary changes

Doctor :   he has to be careful to avoid being will ill friends,and sick people
Doctor :   no excercises for 1 week , until the counts recover

Doctor :   and doing unwanted tests in absence of symptoms is not recommended
