User :   Hello Doctor,
There are 2 people in our family suffering from Alzheimer's Disorder. We had initially given them medication but since past 1 year or so we had discontinued the medicines since we did not come across any radical improvements. But now since one of their's condition is deteriorating very quickly we are thinking of beginning with medications again.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read your query
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Were the medications stopped after consulting the treating doctor?
User :   We had consulted him about the medications being stopped
Doctor :   Ok
User :   The medications given to him were Exelon patches, Hydergine
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Yes, he has been given the right medications
Doctor :   Hydergine is quite effective
Doctor :   Even Exelon is a transdermal patch
Doctor :   which is effective
Doctor :   Alzheimer's has no cure as such but can be managed with supportive treatments
User :   I am not aware which was more effective. But I used to check with medicine stores and they told me company no longer sells Hydergine
User :   Is it true that Hydergine has been stopped manufacturing
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Hydergine is available and not banned as per my knowledge

Doctor :   certain drugs are more suitable for certain patients
Doctor :   so that shall be adjusted on the patient's response as well
Doctor :   all are effective when given in the right dosage
User :   what are dosage forms in which it is available
Doctor :   It is not right for me to tell the dosage over the chat
User :   my dad is not able to swallow tablets easily
Doctor :   it shall be decided after examining the patiet

Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :   Patches is the same that he had used previously

Doctor :   as it is not an acute intensive treatment
Doctor :   but rather a prolonged treatment
