User :   I am having severe nausea, diarrhea and acid reflux. I was seen in an ER two weeks ago and given Nexium 40mg. It is giving me bad headaches and not helping much. I had my gallbladder removed four years ago and it feels just like when I was sick with that. I also had bloodwork done Feb2 and my triglycerides were 273. The high normal cut off is 149. I noticed my flare up again after I ate pork chops and collards one night. The next morning all my symptoms started all over again. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   let me read your query
Doctor :   are u taking any other medications ?
User :   I was only taking 5 mg Zyrtec at the time of my flare ups
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   yopu should take mylanta and tums , to reduce the acidity
User :   I was wondering if I may have to take digestive enzymes since I have had mild flare ups in the past
Doctor :   in additoon pepto bismol , that will reduce the diarrhea
Doctor :   you can take them, if you have excess fat excretion in the stools
User :   Right now my diarrhea is watery and flourescent yellow.
Doctor :   in that case pepto bismol will be adequate
User :   I have tried Maalox and Prevacid as well as Immodium. I do have an appt with a GP tomorrow morning. I am concerned that my pancreas may be causing some issues
Doctor :   this does not seem to be the pancreas
Doctor :   as you have not mentioned abdominal pain, that runs to the back
Doctor :   and also pancreatic pain , will cause steatoreha, like oily stools
User :   Can I take the pepto bismol even if I have two small ulcers? I am having pain in my back as well as chills and then I do get sharp pains in between the lower part of my rib cage
Doctor :   yes , u can take the pepto bismol
Doctor :   that could be due to GERD or gastritis as well
Doctor :   but since the GB has been removed the chances of pancreas being the cause of your symptms would be less
Doctor :   gallstones are the main cause of abdomninal pain
Doctor :   and they also cause pancreatic pain
Doctor :   due to blocking of the pancreatic ducts
Doctor :   in addition , when you go to the doctor, he can do blood tests (amylase and lipase )
Doctor :   this can rule out any pancreatic causes too
User :   CAn I switch to Zantac since the other meds I have tried are giving me headaches? I tried 1 or 2 75mg the day before I went to the ER and they didn't work much. I just can't seem to find anything that works. GERD was discussed with me in the ER but finding something that works has been hard. Any reason for the Triglycerides being high?
Doctor :   if they are actually the cause
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   you can try zantac, if it works for you
Doctor :   the TG can increase if the tests are done after meals
User :   Where do I find digestive enzymes?
Doctor :   you can get them at any local pharmacy as digestive supplements
User :   Thank you!
Doctor :   and 273 can come down the next time you chelk them
Doctor :   you are most welcome
