User :   less than one month old infant not getting poop for last 24 hrs
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here
User :   hello
Doctor :   the frequency of stools in infants vary depending on how much intake of milk he/she has taken
Doctor :   is the infant feeding well? is there excessive crying present?
Doctor :   is the abdomen looking distended than before?
User :   infant feeding is well.
User :   her abdomen is little tite
Doctor :   does the infant cry or wince when you touch the abdomen?
User :   no
Doctor :   has she passed urine is last 24 hours?
User :   yes several times
Doctor :   ok. if the infant i sfeeding well, does not have obvious pain or tenderness, and is passing urine, there is no need to worry.
Doctor :   is the infant active?
User :   yes she is
Doctor :   sometimes babies take some time to adjust and get into proper rhythm of passing stools. watch for any abnormal symptoms like : Doctor :   excessive crying, lethargy, stomach bloating/distension, or development of any new symptoms
Doctor :   wait and see if she passes motion within 48 hours, and does not have any other symptom
User :   even this happen with brestfeeding infant
Doctor :   if she does not pass motion upto 48 hours or if she develops any of these above said symptoms or any new symptoms, then, she will need to be examined by her pediatrician
Doctor :   yes it can happen with breast feeding infants. watch for mothers diet
Doctor :   she should have good balanced diet with lots of green leafy vegetables and other supplements
Doctor :   she should drink lot of water about 10-12 glasses per day
Doctor :   the milk consistency and character might change with changes in her diet, making problems with infant's digestion. so she should maintain good and simple diet.
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?
Doctor :   are you there?
User :   yes
User :   mother had a pizza two days before is that a problem
Doctor :   yes that could be a problem. excessive cheese and lack of fiber in diet could lead to constipation both in her and the infant
Doctor :   let her stick to having simple diet and good well balanced diet at home
Doctor :   with green leafy vegetables and foods containing good amount of fiber
Doctor :   like pulses, whole grains, sprouts, fresh veg salad etc.
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   are you back?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here. please proceed with the discussion
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said uptil now?
User :   then it must be because of pizza that my baby got constipated
Doctor :   it could be. we cannot pin point anything for sure. if the mother has otherwise maintained good diet after having the pizza, this problem would not have occurred.
Doctor :   since the pizza effect will not last for more than 24 hour sin the mother
Doctor :   *24 hours in
Doctor :   since she had it 2 days ago, only pizza cannot be blamed.
Doctor :   has she had proper diet and water intake after the pizza episode?
User :   yes
User :   her dite is normal foods with out spice
Doctor :   ok. then let her continue to maintain good diet and have plenty of water with no excess tea or coffee
Doctor :   and watch out for improvement in baby
Doctor :   also look out for any of the abnormal symptoms as mentioned earlier in the baby
User :   my mother told me to give my baby one tea spoop of boil cool water
User :   is that help
User :   spoon
Doctor :   yes you can give and see. but it is not sure that it will help. since the baby is not even 1 month old, giving external stuff may cause more harm.
Doctor :   let the baby continue on only mother's feed until next 3-4 months
Doctor :   do not give anything external
Doctor :   and make sure to feed the baby every 2 hours
Doctor :   or whenever baby is hungry
Doctor :   each feed should last about 15-20 minutes to ensure that baby has got complete feed
User :   ok cool sir
Doctor :   since mother's milk has 3 parts, 1st part is more watery to quench thirst
Doctor :   2nd part mix of water and thick milk
Doctor :   3rd part with thick milk containing nutrients to satisfy the hunger and form bulk in stools
User :   last night my baya thron out the mily after having feed
User :   *BABY
Doctor :   so if baby is not getting the entire milk, then still it could lead to constipation
Doctor :   that is due to stomach bloating and gas. are you burping the baby after each feed?
User :   yes some time
Doctor :   baby should be burped after each feed to make sure all gas comes out in form of burps, and then should be made to sleep to avoid vomiting
Doctor :   burping is essential after EACH FEED
Doctor :   no matter when or where the baby is fed
Doctor :   it will ensure that baby is feeding well each time, and is not having trouble with gas in stomach that is not letting it to feed well
Doctor :   the vomiting in sleep can also go into lungs and cause pneumonia (aspiration pneumonia) which is dangerous.
Doctor :   so do not forget to burp the baby AFTER EACH FEED.
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?
Doctor :   burp the baby , she will not have further problems with vomiting
