User :   Hello, My USD reports telling that I have ulcer colotis. Then I went for colonoscopy and biopsy for TB PCR tissue. The reports telling that No DNA detected for tubeculosis. But my doctor suspects its tuberculosis through colonoscopy. Im going marry in next two months... Can I have marriage?I don't wanna to cheat my fiance. Plz help me in this regard.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi doctor
Doctor :   Biopsy is a tool that compliments the diagnosis of the condition.
Doctor :   Though this is the gold standard tool in diagnosing the condition, I feel doctors will take the histopathological features more than TB PCR in the diagnosis of the condition.
Doctor :   If the diagnosis of TB colon is confirmed,
Doctor :   then with the use of appropriate TB medications
Doctor :   you should be able to recover completely
Doctor :   and no major complications is expected.
Doctor :   If you there is still a doubt in the diagnosis of the condition,
Doctor :   a repeat biopsy can be considered and a second opinion from a different pathologist can be opted for the diagnosis.
Doctor :   Hence if it is TB colon, then I do not find any factors that should prevent you from marrying, if your general condition is good.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   ok doctor
User :   I have another doubt
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
Doctor :   Proceed.
User :   How much time will it take distinguish whether it is abdominal tubercolosis or chron's disease?
Doctor :   Histopathological features can clinch the diagnosis.
Doctor :   This is a investigation where a biopsy is taken from the suspected colon by colonoscopy.
Doctor :   The tissue sample is studied under microscope
Doctor :   and the reports are available immediately.
Doctor :   the whole process can take a day or two though.
User :   so they did biopsy after my colonoscopy
User :   then they find ulcerative colitis in report
Doctor :   Is the diagnosis based on histopathological feature
User :   means?
Doctor :   or based on the negative TB DNA PCR test?
User :   based on the negative TB DNA PCR test
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
Doctor :   since I do not have the access to your health records, and the physical examination findings
Doctor :   it is hard task to determine what the diagnosis is.
Doctor :   TB DNA PCR test is one of the gold standard test in diagnosing intestinal tuberculosis.
Doctor :   If the DNA PCR test had come positive then there is no doubt in the diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis.
Doctor :   But the knowledge of a doctor and skills of the doctors are considered more
Doctor :   significant in making a diagnosis.
Doctor :   Now, since your doctor presume the diagnosis is tuberculosis,
Doctor :   i cannot rule out tuberculosis completely, though the tests are against it.
Doctor :   Hence it is worth getting a second opinion
Doctor :   from gastroenterelogist
Doctor :   with probably a repeat biopsy.
User :   My doctor is gastroenterelogist
Doctor :   If the second doctor also confirms it to be tuberculosis
Doctor :   or if the second biopsy comes positive for tuberculosis then it is indeed tuberculosis then.
Doctor :   I meant a second opinion by physical examination and repeat biopsy from a second gastroenterologist.
Doctor :   Have you followed what i have suggested?
User :   yes doctor
User :   one more question doctor
Doctor :   Proceed.
User :   its some personal
User :   Can i have with my husband after marriage?
User :   sex
Doctor :   Both this conditions are not transmitted by sexual intercourse.
Doctor :   You can involve in sexual intercourse
Doctor :   you can also continue to raise children too.
User :   if it is chrons desease then?
User :   Can i have with my husband after marriage?
Doctor :   Chron's disease is a chronic condition where in the treatment is in the form of steroids and medications.
Doctor :   You can involve in sexual intercourse with your partner.
User :   now i didn't inform anything to my fiance
Doctor :   However there are certain medications that used in the illness which are not meant to be used during pregnancy.
User :   Is this that much big thing to inform him
Doctor :   I would ask you to inform your partner in the beginning.
Doctor :   This is obviously a personal
Doctor :   opinion.
Doctor :   not medically.
User :   ok doctor
Doctor :   This will prevent any unwanted complications in the future.
User :   finally u are saying that
Doctor :   My opinion is that there are no factors preventing you from getting married or involving in sexual intercourse.
User :   abdominal tuberculosis and chron's disease not obstruct sexual life and giving birth to childrens?
Doctor :   I would however recommend you to get your illness confirmed and start treatment.
User :   now my doctor suggest tetracox
Doctor :   You should be able to bear children, however regular follow ups with doctor
Doctor :   may be required.
Doctor :   Tetracox is a medication for tuberculosis rightly suggested if the condition is intestinal tuberculosis.
User :   ok doctor
User :   thank you very much
Doctor :   My pleasure.
User :   for clearing off my doubts
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   no doctor
User :   thanks
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Wish you best.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
