User :   Hi doctor, i am on day 6 after iui procedure. i notice there is pain on my right side of ovaries when bowel movement or urination. this is my 3rd attempt on iui with increase dosage of 225 as compared to previously 150. i have pain in my breast and nipple and frequently urine. i am obese by the way.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi dr
User :   can u advise based on my query as above
Doctor :   How severe is the pain on the right side
User :   its on and off
Doctor :   What is the nature of the pain
Doctor :   Pricking or twisting or pressing
User :   cramp feeling
Doctor :   Was an Ultrasound done ?
User :   my gut feeling tells me i could be pregnant due to the iui procedure but worried that it could be ectopic hence the on and off pain
User :   as i am only on day after iui so have beentold to return on day 14 for ultrasound
User :   day 6
Doctor :   The symptoms does sound like pregnancy
User :   the pain is like a pricking pain during bowel movement when i put pressure
Doctor :   But you should not worry about ectopic right now
User :   but once done there is no pain
User :   like now while im chatting here there is no pain
Doctor :   Ectopic has abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding
Doctor :   It is too early to comment about ectopic
Doctor :   Actually you need to get the preg test with Serum HCG levels serially
Doctor :   you should discuss with the treating doctor
User :   my 1st and 2nd iui was on lower dosage at 150 and there was only 1 egg but i became pregnant though miscarried due to unkown reasons
User :   this is my 3rd attempt on iui with higher dosage of 225 and there was 9 eggs
Doctor :   Good to know that
User :   could that be a reason for this swollen feeling on my ovaries?
Doctor :   More eggs, the more is the size of the ovary
Doctor :   and the pain can occur if they tickle the bowel and bladder as they lie proximal
User :   i have to say when i lie flat there is no pain
Doctor :   that is one explanation that I can give
Doctor :
You need a series of blood tests and Ultrasound scan
User :   yes i know i have to do that but should i do it now or wait for day 14?
User :   r u there?
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   Serial Beta HCG can be done even now
Doctor :   Ultrasound scan has no importance now
User :   i presume the ultrasound scan will give a clear picture to if ectopic can be ruled out?
Doctor :   Ectopic can be ruled out with Serial Beta HCG also
User :   how is this?
Doctor :   The Beta HCG double every 48 hours in normal pregnancy
Doctor :   and does not in Ectopic
User :   i am obese and if im in sitting position (like watching tv) there is pain in ovaries that goes on and off
User :   can u explain why is this so?
Doctor :   There is perfect explanation for this
Doctor :   But I would try this way, the abdominal compartment is reduce when you sit and in obese and hence the pressure on the ovary
User :   so the stomach puts pressure on lower organs?
Doctor :   Yes
User :   could tht be also the reason why my lower mid vagina section has pain like period pain?
Doctor :   When do you have such vaginal pain?
User :   when i am in sitting position
Doctor :   That can be referred pain
Doctor :   if you do not have any other local problem
Doctor :   Referred pain from ovary
User :   so pain is frm ovary then that travels to mid sections?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   It is a possibility
User :   ok thanks doctor
Doctor :   But best possible explanation is enlargement of ovary because of good number of eggs
Doctor :   and which have grown in size
User :   yes i think so too
User :   thank you for the advice
Doctor :   Thank you for consulting me
Doctor :   Bye for now
