User:i am 47 years old. i have a sort if chronic indigestion problem for several years now

User:i never took any prescribed course, just managed with pudin and other ayurvedic medicines
User:for the last 2 months having pain in lower abdomen
User:first on left side only and then it started with right side also

User:so my local GP asked me to get a abdomen and pelvis sonography done

User:which i did yesterday. while all other organs show normal the only comment on the report is 'Multiple small fibroids in bulky uterus'

User:then what is the actual cause of the pain
Doctor:It is related to the flatulence
Doctor:To address your symptoms, we would need two things

User:so can u pls prescribe some medication for it since i am really feeling uneasy for the last few weeks, unable to eat properly for fear of the pain

User:breakfast at around 8am 3 slices of bread and nutralite butter and a cup of milk tea
User:a half cup of tea and maybe a samosa at 10am in office
User:have recently started a fruit plate at about 12noon (papaya and watermelon) and lunch at 1.30 - generally rice, curry and vegetable.
User:a cup of tea at 4.30om wtha few biscuits
User:and dinner at 9.30 - one chapathi, little rice, curry and vegetable. veryy little of non-veg maybe a pice of fish or meat

User:try to squeeze in some almonds and walnuts in the morning and evening

Doctor:the food that you have, is it generally made at home or from outside?
User:at home
User:except for th samosa
Doctor:we'll need to change this a little bit,
Doctor:what time do you get up
Doctor:at that time, i want you to eat 1 fruit
Doctor:anything you like
User:oh so early in the morning
Doctor:Then within 1 hour, I want you to eat your breakfast
Doctor:it needs to be 2 slices of bread +vegetables
Doctor:Make a sandwich
Doctor:No nutralite or mayo or cheese or butter
User:what kind of veges
Doctor:You can also have Bread+1 boiled egg
Doctor:anything you like except capsicum
Doctor:Or poha/idli/dosa
Doctor:But go slow on the sambhar
User:dont particularly fancy eggs cos i feel it adds to my flatulence problem
Doctor:Just the egg white wouldnt do anything
Doctor:Take out the yolk
Doctor:then at 7 am
Doctor:sorry at 8 am,

User:dry fruits ok?
Doctor:Anything like 1 idli/ 1slice bread
Doctor:Take a few walnuts
Doctor:thats it

Doctor:or 5 almond

Doctor:Then at 11 am
Doctor:you have 1 cup coffee + 2 biscuits
Doctor:No samosa
Doctor:or any dried food
Doctor:At 1 pm, 1/2 lunch
Doctor:so 1 roti + vegetable/dal+rice
Doctor:whatever you like
Doctor:Avoid the curry
Doctor:Lot of oil and spices
Doctor:Then at 3 pm-4 pm, have the rest of your lunch
Doctor:at 6 pm, coffee+biscuits
Doctor:at 8-8:30, dinner

Doctor:suppose you have 1roti+rice+veg+curry in lunch
Doctor:so at 1 , if you had dal+rice
Doctor:at 3 pm, you have roti+veg
Doctor:same for dinner
User:but it will b difficult to manage this routine when at work
Doctor:if you take the food from home,
Doctor:It takes 5 -10 minutes every 2-3 hours
User:any specific foods/veges/fruits that i shd avoid
Doctor:I think we can spare that kind of time every 2-3 hours
Doctor:Spicy and oily food, alcohol. tea/coffee,
Doctor:You should avoid
User:can i have a plate of fruits instead at 3pm?
Doctor:In all, you should be taking 100 g of fruits in a day
Doctor:So I think if you have fruits in the morning

User:try to do some 10 mins exercie in the mornings but not consistent
User:just moving all the joints
Doctor:Can you spare 30-40 minutes in a day for yourself?
Doctor:Just walk, do nothing else

User:no we don't
Doctor:I think you need to spare the time then
Doctor:Given your age and your complaints
Doctor:It is almost essential you exercise

Doctor:Third part is drug therapy
Doctor:There is a drug called omeprazole which will help you a lot
Doctor:This needs to be given with another drug called domperidone
Doctor:But both of these are prescription drugs
Doctor:You would need to see your doctor for that
User:how do these drugs help? they aid digestion?
Doctor:The omeprazole will decrease the acid production
Doctor:that will take care of a lot of flatulence and indigestion
User:that sounds good
Doctor:Domperidone helps the food to move faster
Doctor:So they work in sync to make you feel better
User:so can u suggest which doctor is shd meet?
Doctor:It is generally safe and there are no side effects that you should be expecting

User:wl i also need to take medication for the bulky uterus and fibroids problem?

User:not really, my cycle is regular

Doctor:They will regress on their own after menopause
User:you've been a great help doctor, really appreciate it cause i was planning to see a gastroentrologist and do colonoscopy, etc as i thought i had some serious problem

Doctor:A colonoscopy is recommended annually after 50 years of age

User:so the pain on both lower sides of the abdomen are really related to my digestion problems only
