There are various tests which has to be done every year to detect many diseases and identifying them at earlier stage to give treatment and for better prognosis

   

Blood pressure measurements: It is advisable that all women check their blood pressure in every visit to the doctor. If blood   pressure is found to be high, medications are to be started. Early detection and treatment of hypertension will help to prevent various conditions like heart attack, stroke, brain hemorrhage etc.

Checking of height: Height should also be checked. Sudden loss of height may indicate compression of the spinal cord which may be due to osteoporosis.

Weight: Checking weight is also an important thing. Sudden weight gain may be due to thyroid disorders, fluid retention, heart disease, kidney diseases and liver diseases.

Weight loss can occur in case of infections like tuberculosis and also in cancer.

Eye and dental examaintion should also be done every year.

Breast examination.

Blood tests 

The following blood tests are usually advised

  • Complete blood count to see if there is any anemia
  • Blood sugar levels.
  • Cholesterol levels
  • Serum electrolytes level to see if there is any renal impairment.
  • Thyroid function tests
  • Renal function tests like blood urea, serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen

 Radiology

  • Chest x-ray to see if there is any lung infection like tuberculosis, cancer
  • Mammogram: It is done for all the females above 40 years every year to detect the breast cancer.
  • Ultrasound can of the abdomen and pelvis is required to detect if there is any fibroid uterus, ovarian cysts etc
  • Dexascan is done to see if there is any osteoporotic change in the bones.

 Other tests

  • Urine routine
  • Urine sugar and albumin
  • Electrocardiogram to see if there is any heart diseases. If the ECG shows abnormalities then stress test and echocardiogram are advised
  • Stool examaintion for occult blood. Blood in stool can be the earliest sign of colorectal cancer
  • Pap smear needs to be done to detect cervical cancer
  • Pelvic examaintion, bimanual examination is done to look for ovarian cancers, uterine prolapse, cervical erosions etc. 
  • Gynecological examaintion
