Enlarged Papillae And White Spots On Tongue. Reasons?

Hi, I am 21 years old and recently (for the last 2 months or so) I have had 2 enlarged circumvallate papilli on the back of my tongue and white spots at the back of my tongue as well. It is all clustered to the back and is not on any other surface in my mouth. I saw a doctor but they did not seem to think these symptoms were alarming, but they never went away. What are common reasons for this and what should I do? Should I see an ear nose and throat specialist?

Hello there ,circumvallate papilla usually are seen in those areas of tongue where you have mentioned. Enlarged papilla are usually seen in case of iron and vitamin deficiencies. When the papilla get swollen, the kind of food you have would discolor it. Hence you see the change of color. Start using multivitamin tablets. Get your hemoglobin done to confirm your anemic status. Have plenty of water and maintain your tongue clean so that discoloration won't persist.Don't worry it's treatable.
