Hello my son, who is 19 has just discovered a few months ago that he has a broken tail bone. It did not heal correctly causing him pain and making him limp. do you think it needs to be re-broken and set correctly, what is the usual treatment for something like that?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Avoid sitting down for long periods of time.
For traumatic injuries, apply ice to the tailbone area for 15-20 minutes, four times a day, for the first few days after the injury.
Take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as aspirin or ibuprofen to reduce pain and improve your ability to move around.
You can purchase a "doughnut" cushion or pillow to sit on.
Eat foods high in fiber to soften stools and avoid constipation.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
Warm Regards
