18 yr old has enlarged spleen. scheduled Ct scan. had mono in 2012 and just had two knee surgeries. What could this be??
There are many causes for Splenomegaly.
1. Viral like mononucleosis may be the cause of splenomegaly in your case.
2. Bacterial infections
3. parasitic infections
4. Hemolytic anaemias.
5. Metabolic disorders.
Ct scan may show the extend of the enlargement but you may require to relevant test to arrive at a diagnosis.
