Recurrent UTI, Normal Cystoscopy. What Is The Cause?
Thank you for your time - I have been having recurring UTIs for about a year now. I am 58 years old and had never had one until June of last year. I ve had 3 since April. I ve spoken to my family doctor and 2 urologists. One urologist did a cystoscopy in December, but it he didn t find anything wrong with my bladder or kidneys. All 3 doctors suggest I stay on a maintenance dose of antibiotics . I would rather not do that. I ve tried all I know to do to keep them away, but they continue.
Hi
U T I should be supported by presence of pus cells in microscopic exam of urine and organism found in urine culture .in absence of organism and pus cells with complains like that of U T I need further investigations to find out the cause of complains.prostate should be evaluated and any role of it in presenting symptoms should be ruled out
some times recurrent presentation with features of U T I with sterile urine need to be examined to rule out tuberculosis.
please discuss with your urologist and follow advice
Hope get well soon
