Can Colon Surgery Cause Headache And Running Nostril?

Question: hi, I had a surgery in 2010 (colon) but after that surgery I started having a sinus issue like, the right side of my head getting a sharp pain that I would message for about 5 seconds and then it would go away and also sometimes the right nostril would just start draining on it's own. So all this went on for about a year and then it just went away but now it's back. Can you give some ideal as to what might be going on? Than you

Brief Answer: Sinusitis and colonic stricture as a possibility Detailed Answer: Hi. Gone through your Medical History and present complaints. The colon surgery may not related to the headache and runny nostril. The probable cause can be a sinusitis as you rightly thought about. The best way to get this diagnosed is to have an ENT Checkup to see exactly what is in the nose- may be a polyp or so, and a CT scan of nose and sinuses to now the condition of the sinuses and nose. A proper diagnosis can help to guide the management in a proper way and for the cure ( not a temporary relief). As for you stomach problem- your history is suggestive of a stricture / obstruction. A colonoscopy and/or contrast X-ray / CT studies will give a correct diagnosis and plan for further management of this too. ( I am a double post-graduate - in ENT and Gastro Surgery - so I have given solutions to both the problems)
