Reason For Pain In Hand, Bulging Vein, And Pain When Applying Pressure?

I have a throbbing pain which shoots down the left side of left hand, by the metacarpals. It's not to do with the bone I don't think but it feels as if all my blood is rushing down that one side and all the pressure it building up. One particular vein is bulging out of my skin and if I apply slight pressure to it or on the bone then it is painful. Any clue as to what it might be?
