Progressive swelling after suturing indicates an ongoing infection of the suture site.This needs immediate medical attention.We have to look for any pus collection inside,and drain if present.Otherwise,this just needs changing or addition of antibiotics(depends on what you are getting down).Delay can cause serious complications like orbital cellulits.

Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Usually suture material don't develop allergy ( exception is there as it depends upon the nature of material used). If intense itching and inflammation present it may develops scar or keloid. Good luck. Dr. HET
