Hi, Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns. Constipation usually is caused by the slow movement of stool through the colon. Causes of chronic constipation include drugs(e.g.codeine),poor bowel habits(too frequent suppression),low fiber diets,hormonal disorders(e.g hypothyroidism)& diseases(e.g.Diabetes)that also affect the function of the muscles and/or nerves of the colon .

Hello, The commonest thing is undigested vegetable matter. If there is a change in the frequency and consistency of the stool I would advice my patient to undergo stool analysis to arrive at a diagnosis.
