What Are The Causes Of Ridges And Splitting In Fingernails?

Within the last two years, all of my fingernails on both hands have developed ridges and are splitting constantly. I have found very little written about this problem. Can you say what causes this? Medications, diet, ??? I'd appreciate any leads you can offer. ML

Hi,

I can understand your concern for ridges and splitting in fingernails.Ridges and splitting in fingernails can be due to any long term illness or due to nutritional deficiency or hormonal influence.

If I were your dermatologist then would have prescribed you tablet containing Acetylcysteine, Calcium Pantothenate, Selenium, Zinc, Biotin, Copper as active ingredients. You can take these vitamins in the form of biotin, calicium pantothenate and other vitamin B complexes.

Eat a lot of proteins and mineral in fruits in your diet to improve your nutritional status.

Take care.
