What Causes Dry Vagina?

Vulva/vagina dry lately.
I am 58 so maybe age thing, but I'm very healthy and run, hike, bike, etc.
Also spend 3-4 hours a week in the pool at the gym.
Since clorine causes dryness to body and hair, and even bathing suit, can it be the reason for extra dry vagina?

Hello and welcome,

The dry vagina may be caused due to age related decrease in estrogen levels. I am not sure if you are taking HRT as it provides estrogen and helps decrease the dryness.

The chlorine may also cause and irritation and dryness. So you may try to use a water proof panty to prevent it coming in contact with the vagina.

Also I suggest that you get a pap smear and ultrasound evaluated. If these are negative then you may use estrogen creams after prescription from your doctor to help relieve the dryness.

Hope this satisfies your query.
