What Causes Dry Throat With Continuous Coughing?

I have been coughing constantly, nights more than during the day, for 3 months sometimes a dry cough and sometimes with mucus. I am on a nasal steroid alergy med but nothing seems to work. I have constant dry mouth and the only thing that stops me coughing is liquids or cough drops.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
Dry cough is one where there is no sputum production.
Most commonly dry hacking cough is seen in viral infections of the nose and throat. In which one has a continuous cough with a feeling of something being stuck in the throat.
Dry cough may be caused due to a number of reasons, they may be due to sore throat, inhaling an irritant like dust or smoke, asthma or an allergic reaction.
I would suggest you to follow remedies, which will improve the condition.
Steam inhalation
Lozenges to soothe the throat
Allergy or infection - may be prescribed antibiotics and anti-histamines respectively to relieve the associated symptoms.
If the symptoms are not improving you need to consult your doctor for proper examination and treatment.
Thank you.
