General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Salmoenlla typhi 1:160 is positive strain in typhoid fever .
When patient visit to me in my clinic with typhoid positive I usually prescribe them ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice in day ( 60 kg weight ) for two weeks .
But in few cases patient usually complaints that they feel nausea and vomiting with this drugs ,so I advise them to take some antacid or drugs like pantoloc-D .
Boiled and cooled water is the best .
Few years back or some doctor also prescribe chloramphenicol 500 mg 4 times in day , this is a best but have few side effects , so consult your treating doctor .
Good luck.
