What Can You Give A Toddler For Constipation?

what can you give a toddler for constipation? She drinks a lot of water eats a lot of fiber but has a tendancy to hold her poop I think because she is afraid it is going to hurt (as it has in the past). She has not pooped in a few days, her belly swells and she won t eat much until she goes to poop. She is 3.5 years

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
It is habitual constipation due to with holding of stools due to fear of pain.
You should explain the child the need for using potty daily and its consequences otherwise.
Appreciate if she passes motion.Do not criticise or threaten if she does not.
Lactulose syrup 2 times daily in addition to high residue ,fiber containing diet and plenty of water will help.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
