What would cause a persons platelets to be high...mine is 448...should i be worried?
Hi Tfons The normal platelets count in the blood is 150,000 - 400,000 per microliter (mcL). Platelet count over 4500,000 is called thrombocytosis which is caused by a number of conditions like bleeding, anemia, allergic reaction, etc. Reply with thanks

my cbc results.platelet count 462(normal 140-440), PCT 0.323(normal 0.108-0.282), wbc 10.29(normal 4.3-10.0), rdw-cv 10.8(normal 11.0-16.0).others are normal.
Hi, these reports are all near normal. There is Thrombocytosis which is an increase in platelets which could lead to your blood becoming thicker. Do you have any problems? If not then you need not do anything and repeat the reports after a month. Do not worry, Take care, Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
