My son was dianosed with posion ivy 8 days ago. Prednisone shot then 5 days on meds. Rash completely clear but itching is still crazy. How long can this last?
Hello and welcome to HCM,
You can take an anti-histaminic to control the itching.
Itching is caused due to release of histamine in blood.
Histamine is released by mast cells in case of allergic reactions.
Consult your physician for prescription of an anti-histaminic drug.
Thanks and take care

Identify and avoid allergic items in contact as well as in food items such as nickel foods(oatmeal, canned foods)and vitamins.
You can go for patch testing to identify the exact cause of the problem or the aggravating allergens. Keep your hands moisturized. Take round the clock antihistamines.
All the best.
