If this pain has started spontaneously without warning and there is some swelling, I suggest you see a doctor to exclude a DVT. If the pain followed exercise then it may be a pulled muscle. In this case, elevate your leg and apply ice 4 times a day.

need pain that spreads into lower calf, difficulty standing or walking, feels like a huge knot in the calf muscle.
Do apply warm compresses, the pain could be due to spasm in the muscle. Warmth releases the spasm and provide you relief.
I was diagnosed with bronchitis and bronchospasms. I was placed on Leviquin 500 mgm. once a day and promethizine with codeine Wed. night. I have leg cramps too.
The cramps can be due to fatigue and tiredness.
Have lots of fluids.
If calfpain worsens, have an evaluation to rule out thrombosis.
