Is Breaking Of Finger Nails Caused By Vitamin Deficiency?

My finger nails are breaking off on a regular basis. I am a chemotherapy patient, but I have been for 13 years and never had them break half way down my nail bed. They are very thin and sore, and bleeding. Is this a vitamin deficiency? And if so what vitamin am I lacking?

Hi,

I can understand your concern for breaking of finger nails.

As you are a chemotherapy patient so due to deficiency mainly biotin, iron and zinc along with proteins can cause finger nails breaking.

You can take vitamins in the form of biotin, calicium pantothenate and other vitamin B complexes. Multivitamin tablets contains all these essential nutrients so you can take it.

Additionally increase you protein intake on daily basis and eat sprouts. Eat a lot of green leafy vegetables and sprouts which contains vitamins and minerals necessary for normal hair function.

Increase your protein intake in form of pulses and sprouts. You will be alright by dong above things continuously for minimum three months.

All the best.
