Vomiting Yellow, Foul-smelling Liquid. History Of Bowel Resection Surgery. Worried
Hi, My grandmother has been vomiting since the early hours of Sunday morning. Her last bout was at 4am but she was just sick again. Its a dark yellow foul smelling liquid and it was a short burst. I spoke to a nurse who said it was probably a bug. Whats worrying me is that Nana had Bowl Re-Section Surgery in September last year and I'm worried that the bowl has become blocked again although she refuses to call the GP saying that she feels ok now she's been sick again. She's awake and talking although very tired and she's tolerating water. She tried a cup of tea and a few spoonfuls of porridge this morning and seemed to keep that down until now. I don't know what else to do for her.
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).
Since She is tolerating orally I don't think that she is having intestinal obstruction but still I will advise to get a xray abdomen in standing position to see for any air fluid level for obstruction. meanwhile give her antiemetic agent like ondansetron, keep her's hydration level well.
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
