Sore Throat, Swollen Tongue On Swallowing. Taking Flonase. History Of Sinusitis. Permanent Cure?

I have sinusitis and had a sinus infection about 2.5 weeks ago. I was prescribed amoxicillan by my allergist . I took the whole 10 day course, and finished it last weekend. On Tuesday of this week my throat started to become sore when I swallow , and the rear portion of my tongue is sore and swollen. I have quite a bit of drainage running down the back of my throat. As routine medicine, I take Flonase twice a day, as well. It doesn t seem to be helping me. I also use a Neti pot 2x per day. Any suggestion on what I can do to eliminate this sore throat and tongue...and the drainage?

hello...
Amoxycillin is a good Antibiotic used for urti and you suppose to have taken the complete course which could have taken care of infection, if any...
Flonase is a steroid nasal spray and you need to take care that you stay away from sick people since they can transmit the infection to you as steroids spray reduces local immunity...
Follow certain household remedies which could be of immense help to you like
1. Steam inhaltion therapy for your sinus problem
2. Salt water Gargling for Sore throat
3. Cover your nose and mouth while travelling and in dusty areas to avoid allergic reactions..
Do visit an ENT specialist and get your throat examined...
get well soon....

HI
You are welcome in HCM.
I have gone through your query regarding your recurrent sore throat and swelling of tongue. You have told that you are a patient of sinusitis and there is continuous flow of fluid in your throat.
Considering your symptoms I would like to tell you your root cause of illness is your sinusitis which time to time puts out infected discharge in your throat and give rise to soreness. This sometimes when appears in severe form give rise to infection in nearby structures like base of tongue and uvula and palate etc
You are now advice fr following basic investigations-
(1) C.T.scan of paranasal sinuses.
(2) culture and sensitivity of throat swab.
(3) Blood- C.B.C., E.S.R., blood sugar (fasting & pp )
After this you should contact an E.N.T. specialist for thorough clinical examination and clinical co-relation of inferences of investigations to make final and complete diagnosis and pan for treatment.
Hope your query is now clear but still if you have any doubt your re consultation will be welcome.

Regards with thanks.
