hi im 37 weeks pregnant and today I went to doctors about shortness of breath its getting real bad just wondering what a can do
Hello and welcome to HCM, At 37 weeks of pregnancy, it is common to experience shortness of breath. This is because of the full term uterus which is quite bulky to push on the diaphragm. This pushing of the diaphragm causes pressure on the lungs and hence shortness of breath. The shortness of breath will be relieved after delivery. Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal

Hi. Shortness of breath can be due to many reasons - like a respiratory porblem for eg. asthma can cause similar symptoms at your age. Apart from this any lung disease, heart disease, kidney disease, or muscle disease can produce shortness of breath. Sometimes it may just due to hysteria/ panic attacks due to anxiety disorders. What exactly is the cause can be known only after examination. Thank u

My 5 year old son is having a shortness of breath. It seems that is not bothering. Is it a possibility that he has an asthma?
Hello. My dear friend ,first you think about any kind of nasal blockage, tonsilitis, adenoids or any anemia after aproaching your nearest physician. Physician will rule out any heart defect. Because in asthma patient has shortness of breath during attack, not all time , except in severe cases and become restless. Asthma will always exagrated when your child will run or play. Thanx for query.
