Bilateral Degenerative Disc Osteophytes With Severe Stenosis And Moderate Lateral Recess Stenosis Of Nerves. What Does It Mean?

i have c5/6 bilateral degenerate disc osteophytes with severe stenosis and involvement of both existing c6 nerves. plus at presumed L4/5 there is degenerate disc bulge with moderate left lateral recess stenosis. there is also posterior displacement of the travfersing left L5 nerves. pls what does all this mean.. i need assistance.

Hi,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
With age, degenerative changes of spine come. These osteophytes are part of degenerative changes. As they are causing severe stenosis you might be having pain, numbness, tingling sensation in the neck,shoulders etc. You might have to get a surgery done for releasing the stenosis so that your symptoms will be relieved. Physiotherapy might also help.
In lumbar spine, your intervertebral disc has moved posteriorly more on left side causing slight displacement of the nerve. This might be causing some pain in your left leg. If it is not severe physiotherapy can relieve this.
