Diagnosed With Umbilical Hernia, Colon Cancer. Done Chemotherapy. Taking Oxaliplatin. Does It Have Side Effects?

I have been diagnosed with a umbilical hernia. First do I need surgery to repair it? second can this cause severe tinglying toes and strange feelings in my feet in general? I recently had chemotherapy for Stage 3 colon cancer and I know one med oxiciplatin that gave me had a side effect of this, but when I was on the chemo I had none of this side effect. Now it has been almost 2 months since my last treatment and I now have severe tinglying in my feet and toes. Sometimes I have the symptoms in my hands, but not for long. Will this ever go away because it is really troublesome. Thanks for your help.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Recent onset of umbalical hernia needs to be evaluated for its cause treatment for the same. Over weight, ascites, constipation pr prostate enlargement these are few causes for it. You needs to get operated for it as it can tends to get bigger over time and chances of strangulation are common.

Tingling in your toes needs to be evaluated for its cause. you need to get few test done for it.

blood tests: LFT, RFT, Screening for diabetes, Vitamin levels.
electrolyte level testing
thyroid function testing
nerve conduction studies
Treatment of underlying cause helps to relieve your symptoms. Consult physician for physical examination.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
