You should do some lifestyle modifications:
-eat healthy foods (green vegetables,fruits,whole grains,legumes,low fat dairy foods)
-Look for non-starchy vegetables (Broccoli, spinach, and green beans are low in carbohydrates and high in fiber
-Avoid sugars and starches (white bread, or cornstarch etc
-drink plenty of water.
-exercise regularly (at least 40 min every day).

By sugarI suppose you mean diabetes. This manifests as excessive thirst and drinking, excessive urination and weight loss. These are the principal signs.
Do fasting bloodsugar if you are concerned or have the above symptoms.
