Could be a viral fever. You can give him paracetamol syrup and keep observing for any other signs of infection.

May be due to viral infection( flu) or URI ( upper respiratory infection) .
At present use calpol syrup 5 ml according to degree of fever . If fever persist more then 5-7 days then consult child specialist.
