What Could Be Treatment For Severe Gastroenteritis And Dehydration?

for the past 6 months on about a weekly basis I have severe attacks of diarrhea, gas, bloating, belching bile, vomiting bile, severe headache, lower abdomen cramping, upper abdomen pain and noticable bloating, confusion during episodes and sometimes unconscious during episodes. I have become very dehydrated and gone to the er 5 or 6 times and they give me iv meds and send me home. I have had 2 xrays and an upper gi series which all showed stool in my upper abdomen and a small hiatal hernia. they usually diagnose me with acute gastroenteritis and dehydration. But I am very concerned at the length of time and how severe some of the episodes get. Who has acute gastroenteritis for 6 months? I am having to call into work due to the severety of it all.

Hi. Repeated attacks of the symptom-complex you are having needs to be thoroughly investigated. I would suggest you to go for all relevant blood tests to rule out infection- diabetes; stool tests including sucrose intolerance , occult blood , Contrast enhanced CT scan of abdomen. All these would direct us to find the diagnosis.
