Does Fluzet Caplet Caues Drowsiness?

Question: i am 34 years old, was given fluzet caplet by my doctor today for running nose and cough. Am feeling drowsy and highly irritated since this evening not able to do anything. Is it a side effect of this drug?

Brief answer...it is the side effect of the drug Detailed answer.... FLUZET is a combination of chlorpheniramine maleate,paracetamol,DEXTROMETHORPHAN and phenylpropalomine. Cholrpheiramine and DEXTROMETHORPHAN,both result in drowsiness,irritation,confusion etc. These side effects vary from individual to individual and in few individuals,they are very pronounced. There is nothing to worry and the effect shall pass in few hours. For your cold and cough,you can take steam inhalation two times a day along with hot drinks and a easily available anti allergic medicine called as CETRIZINE,once in the night. Although CETRIZINE also results in drowsiness but it would be limited to the night only. Cold and cough with sneezing is a viral infection and shall be all right in 4-5 days.
