I have a long-standing diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome for which I take dicyclomine 10mg 3x/day; a colonoscopy with biopsies reconfirmed this diagnosis in 2011. The past 2 days I ve had a watery rectal discharge tinged with varying amounts of bright red blood . I ve also had a burning pain in my lower abdomen that is present even when I wake from sleep in the middle of the night. I m bloated and flatulent and my abdomen feels distended. I ve had all of these symptoms before except for the blood. I had a sigmoid colectomy and rectopexy in 2008 for rectal prolapse. Please advise. I really don t want another colonoscopy because the prep makes me sick.
