Inflammation In Lymph Node And Swelling With Pain In Ear Lobe. What Could Be The Cause?

Good evening, on Saturday I noticed my lymph node right under my right earlobe was swollen. No other symptoms. Yesterday I felt a bit congested and started sneezing. Today still a little congested and still sneezing with some mild earache. The earache is off and on, not consistent. What could be the cause of the inflammation on my lymph node? I've ben taking aspirin and doing warm compresses. Anything else I should do or worry about? Thank you.

Hi Maria,
Swollen lymph node in your case could be due to respiratory tract infection. Our ear is connected to our throat through eustachian tube. So any infection of nose or throat can travel to ear and may cause earache. Do warm gargles and take a course of oral antibiotic. The swelling of lymph node will subside with clearance of infection. No warm compresses or aspirin required to treat it.
Hope this helped.
Take care
