How Long Can One Expect An (ECG) Electrocardiogram, To Take ?

The actual test itself. I was told by the doctor it is done as as dopplar, like expectant mothers have, but for the heart. He didn t mention any hookups or leads. I had that for my EKG. I failed to ask him how long the actual test will take. I standed corrected ADR. Thanks for calling that to my attention, as I was asking for the incorrect procedure. Indeed it is for an echo. My mistake.

An electrocardiogram, ecg, and ekg are all the same thing...interchangeable terms. If your doc said it was going to be like an ultrasound he probably told you you were going to have an echocardiogram, or an echo for short. An echo is an ultrasound of the heart done with a doppler. There are resting echos which are done while you are lying down and take about twenty minutes. There are also stress echos which are done after the heart is in a "stressed" state. This is often done after they have you walk on a treadmill and get your heart to a target rate. This test takes a little longer because of the treadmill aspect but is still not very long. Both types are non-invasive and totally painless. I hope this helps!
