Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had umbilical hernia surgery w/mesh 3yrs ago still have a lot of pain I take lyrica ,Elavil, Norco 10/325, I went to ER 2mos ago was told that CT scan shows a hernia still. I went back to the surgeon he says I don't have one that he put a large mesh. But wants to do a exploratory surgery. Is this safe. I also have Post DVT right leg but swollen in both and red.
Hi! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
If I were your family physician, I would suggest you to have a second opinion on this problem. Whether you got a recurrence of the hernia or not could be known by a physical examination only. I would also like to know for what your surgeon wants to explore your abdomen, if he is sure of no hernia again over there. What does he provisionally think it to be !!! I would rather go for an ultrasound abdomen and a CT scan of abdomen if need be to make things more logical. Further management would depend on the investigation reports.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts. Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
