What Is The Remedy For Gastritis With Acid Reflux And Heartburn When On Metoclopramide?

Hi, I am 31 years old. I had gastritis end of September last year and since then have had daily acid reflux, I wake up with a sour taste of acid and then have heartburn and pain in my esophagus in the morning which progressively gets worse through the day. My GP put me on Omeprazole 40mg a day and I have been on it for 2 months but I am still getting daily acid reflux. My GP also prescribed Metoclopramide which seems to help a little. I have cut out anything that might trigger it - I don t drink alcohol or any caffeine and I don t eat spicy or acidic foods. It s really getting me down because it just seems relentless. Is there anything else I can do to help my condition? I have had a barium swallow which was clear apart from showing reflux. Is this something that I am stuck with because I am really struggling with it? Louise

Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having some thing more then gastritis or hyper acidity as Omeprazole does not seems to be effective.
Go for endoscopy examination to rule out gastric ulcer or any other pathology.
Continue with diet restriction as you are observing.
