What Is The Permanent Cure For Jock Itch When Suffering From Diabetes?

My 89 year old father has a very bad case of jock itch. I've tried many over the counter creams, his primary said to use baby powder, hasn't worked, tried triple antibiotic cream and still nothing works. Finally, I tried antiperspirant which works great as far as a drying agent, but it's still there and if I don't use the antiperspirant it turns an angry red color
I can only surmise that because of his diabetes( type II), is the reason it won't /can't heal. My next step is to find a good dermatologist, which is kind of impossible cause of where we live . Any time we need a specialist we have to travel 50 or so miles to get there. This has been going on for several months now.
Please help
thank you,
carol

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Diabetes if not well controlled could be the underlying reason for resistant or recurrent jock itch.

As a treating doctor i would have advocated usage of an antifungal cream e.g clotrimazole Or Sertaconazole Or Luliconazole twice daily for 4-6 weeks along with an oral antifungal e.g either fluconazole Or itraconazole on prescription.

An antifungal dusting powder twice daily would help in keeping the area dry and prevent recurrence.

Of course strict control of blood sugar levels is a pre-requiste for long term control of jock itch.

take care
regards
