Burning And Tingling Sensation On Face Due To CPAP Mask, Had Fungal And Bacterial Infection Of Sinuses. What Will Help?

I have burning and tingling of the skin on my face in the area where my CPAP mask made contact with my face. It is worse on my right side where the hose draped over the side of the bed applying more pressure to that side of may face. I have not used my CPAP mask in six months, but the problem continues. This problem comes and goes unexplainably possibly changes in the weather. I went from Northeast Ohio to North Carolina recently and the problem disappeared. I have had a neurological exam and a MRI of my head and neck with no findings. I have had my vitamin B12 level checked and it is OK. I have been treated for five days with 20 mg of prednisone twice a day with no improvement. I was treated for both bacterial and fungal infection of the sinuses. I have been treated for Rocasia with no improvement. I am considering applying Monostat to the affected area to see if it could be a yeast infection. Is this a reasonable thing to do?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,
After reading your history I can make out the possibility of Fungal infection of the area. As it is present on one side of face therefore the possibility of allergic rash is unlikely.
Do not apply any mixed cream or mixed ointments as it causes further aggravation of the problem. I suggest you to apply plane anti-fungal cream such as clotrimazole or ketoconazole. Take fluconazole 150 mg alternate days or tablet terbinafine 250 mg daily for 15 days.
Apply the cream in very thin layer so that it should not be visible to the naked eye. Keep the area dry and do not apply any moisturizing cream.

Take care.
