Suggest Treatment For Foot Injury

My horse jumped on my right foot 5 days ago and landed on my right fifth toe. It hurt horrendously at the time but I have managed since to limp around and continue working on the farm since. It's now Monday. I went to the hospital today as the pain was not going away and they said the toe was fractured at the 5th proximal phalanx but did not X-ray so have no idea how they know this... :s there is a bruse about 5mm thick around the base of my toe and a bruise spreading across te top of my foot. I can walk but with a imp. I feel a sharp pain in my foot when I walk. The hospital buddy taped my toe and reccomended crutches and sent e on my way. Are crutches ver kill, seeing as I CAN walk, or should I use them for healing purposes?

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.

For 5 th metatarsal fracture after 6 weeks healing should be complete and then you can start physiotherapy.

Crutches are given so that you do not put weight and there is early healing.

If you see any signs of infection like raised local temperature, increase in pain then you should consult your doctor again.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
