What Causes Cough, Cold, Jaw Pain And Ear Pain?

Thank you. I have had cough, followed by cold, and stuffy nose and changed voice since past 10 days, without much improvement. Took a course of azithral 250, but no help. Since two days, i have had pain in the jaw and now i have pain in my ears, which also seem to be blocked. What is wrong?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
These are common problems after cold and nasal infections.
The ears get blocked and sometimes pain because of the blockage of tube present behind the nose and which connects the middle part of ear.
When the infected mucus from the nose falls at the back of nose to the throat the whole throat gets infected.
If azithral has been taken for 250 mg two times a day for 5 days (considering you to be an adult) and have no relief. You need to change the antibiotic .
You can use levofloxacin which will act in ears nose and throat.
In addition you might need to take nasal sprays both saline and steroid to decrease the secretion and inflammation.
Decongestant tablets and ansal sprays are also available and to be used.
Consult an ent specialist for the treatment dosage according to the weight and age.
In doubt do reply.
